The sidewalks along Pier and Hermosa Avenues are totally disgusting and need to be powerwashed/sanitized every week. Because of the amount of thowup, takeout food and urine clearly visible on these streets; we should be able to have the bars downtown pay for this much needed service

Leo, thanks for sharing your idea. Currently, the City power washes the downtown sidewalks once-per-week. We recently purchased a new ride-on-scrubber, which is expected to significantly enhance our ability to clean areas of downtown. As cleanliness of our downtown has been an ongoing issue, we have also begun looking at updating our citywide cleaning schedule and increasing cleaning frequency in key areas where appropriate. If you need more info on this, our Assistant to the City Manager, Nico De Anda, provided Council with a brief update at their meeting on 10/13/16. Here is the link to that update: https://hermosabeach.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=2854632&GUID=988A546B-0630-42DC-A96C-C7F8A57822AC .

Additionally, the City Council recently established a subcommittee dedicated to address downtown issues (including cleanliness) and propose various strategies for a safe, clean, and inviting downtown.

Hi Hayley: Thanks for your response (better late than never) Can you please confirm what day/time that the City currently power washes the downtown sidewalks? I've never seen this in my 20 years here? Can you also please confirm which blocks/streets sidewalks are done once a week? I would also be very interested to know when the new ride-on-scrubber will debut?. Yes you are correct "cleanliness of our downtown has been an ongoing issue" for approximately the last 15 years. Thanks for the link. I look forward to viewing it....hopefully it has some recommendation re. the bars paying for a portion of the additional cleaning required? Can you please also post a link (on city website or here) for details of the "subcommittee dedicated to address downtown issues (including cleanliness) and propose various strategies for a safe, clean, and inviting downtown" so residents can follow their progress? Thanks, Leo
