I am a resident of the Moorings condo complex since 1997. As an avid surfer I agree totally that something should be done to clean up the water output from the Herondo strom drain; however the greenbelt is NOT a suitable location for a project of this magnitude. Nor, is our nearby South Park. Which I want to remondCity Council had significant money spent on its upgrades and was closed for an extended period of time much to the consternation of Hermosa residents. I urge Council to reconsider the location. Take the time to research a better option instead of trying to bully and ram this I’ll conceived project down our throats. We deserve better from our elected officials: remember who voted you in YOU work for us; represent your constituents rather than treating us like a bunch of silly grade schoolers. I would additionally add that it makes absolutely no sense to open ourselves to 100 percent of the liability for such a project, when our city contributes approximately 10 percent of the debris. What about Redondo Beach? Why are they not shouldering their fair share of this burden? They cerycant claim their municipality doesn’t contribute to the trash that is flushed out. Finally, I want to say this: I surf Beakwall in the winter a lot. I know personally what ends up floating in that water after a storm. Which is why I have a standing prescription for cipro. But I would rather surf I foamy dog excrement than have this project in its current proposal in our city.
