I have lived in Hermosa Beach for 12 years and a lifelong South Bay resident. I strongly oppose this ordinance. This will hurt the already decimated restaurants in Hermosa Beach due to Covid.

I believe the City needs to be more pro business, especially now. All restaurants are struggling, with massive losses over the last year. Why implement ordinances that would cause them to incur further losses? Not to mention the tax benefits the city receives. And on another note, if the City changed CUP's without just cause, I believe the City would risk exposing themselves to litigation from multiple plaintiffs. Why risk that kind of uneccesary financial loss?

100% oppose it. Open the restaurants get the Bars back open to 100%. And yes if feels good to see Hermosa Beach Police out here patrolling our neighborhoods and business especially the Downtown area. Lets put the money back in to the business and back into Hermosa Beach.

Nobody wants this; we all want life to return back to normal and not continue to have restrictions on where we can go to eat, socialize, and how we enjoy Hermosa. Most of all, the employers and the employees need for things to return to normal as their livelihoods have been diminished more than most. This plan does not help anyone - and those that do want it are probably the same people that wont leave their houses anyway.

Absolutely oppose this. As many mentioned below, this will have an extremely negative impact to restaurants and bars, especially after a pandemic. In addition, I am more than happy to have my taxes pay for 25% of the Hermosa Beach Police Department budget to provide police services Downtown area as the party vibe on the weekends is one the best things about Hermosa. I pay a high premium to live here and have access to a lively night life. Lastly, the city should actually allow open containers and allow bars to stay open past 2 AM which will lead to a reduction of unnecessary police hours to write tickets and would boost the local economy and taxes paid.

We are out of the high risk. Please do not make business and community suffer with needless red tape. Open gyms, bars and restaurants.

This act will kill all of the restaurants that are left in Hermosa Beach. Please do not do this to the family run businesses in this town.

After everything our local small businesses have gone through over the last 12+ months of Covid, to propose something like this is absolutely abhorrent. Much of the "logic" in the report is utterly nonsensical. Any of our elected officials or who proposed or supported this should be ousted. Adamantly oppose.

Being a full-time musician, and having lived in Hermosa Beach since 1982, I have a rare perspective of this city. Hermosa Beach has a rich musical tradition, one that has helped put this city on the map. I have proudly made my living as a performance musician in Hermosa over the years. A vast majority of the shows musicians play in last well beyond 10pm. Most shows (pre-covid) went from 9pm-1am, with the greatest attendance and bar revenue numbers happening after 10. To impose this proposed legislation on the bars and restaurants would not only crush the abilities of all local performance musicians to earn a living, but it would also sink the bars and restaurants downtown. The last 14 months have been an incredible struggle, and it’s hard to believe that this is even being considered. I personally appreciate the recent lifting of the outdoor music restrictions, but this current proposal is absolutely ridiculous and needs to be abandoned immediately.

    Thank you.

I support the restaurants whose business models were shattered during the pandemic. Hermosa Beach’s downtown is safe. Any other narrative is misinformation. And for the record, crime always tends to happen in downtown areas. Look at any city’s crime reports. I went to Valley and then Costa and I’m proud to call Hermosa home. We will all unite to stop the smear campaign aimed at our great city!

Such regulations are unneccessarily harmful to businesses. COVID is no longer a valid scientific "excuse" herein. CA has the lowest incidence of COVID nation-wide. Yet we are nearly last IN THE NATION to re-open schools and businesses. Nearly half of all US adults have been vaccinated. According to Dr. Scott Gottlieb (former head of the FDA and very "centrist" objector to Dr. Fauci), herd immunity in CA has basically been achieved. Please let businesses continue to thrive. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Is the city really proposing to make it even tougher to run a business and make a living in HB???
